A guide to property for sale Costa del Sol

The Costa del Sol is situated in the South of Spain and is popular for both holiday makers and property buyers alike. All along the Costa del Sol there numerous towns and resorts offering all the amenities you would expect from a holiday destination. More people are buying property on the Costa del Sol due to the good all year round climate with over 300 days of sunshine a year. It is not uncommon to be able to stroll along the promonade in Marbella, for example, on Christmas day bathed in glorious sunshine.

The Costa del Sol stretches from Sotogrande in the West to Nerja in the East. The area is unique due to the stunning mountains that shield the coastline and offer protection from adverse weather conditions. You will never be short of things to do in the Costa del Sol as there are many restaurants, cafés, bars and clubs to satisfy your wining and dining needs. If it is recreational activities you prefer then again your choice is huge. You can horseride on the beach or along the mountain paths, windsurf, kitesurf, sail, jet-ski, walk or of course golf. But, you might just want to relax on one of the golden sandy beaches with the Mediterranean lapping around your ankles.

There are now over 70 golf courses on the Costa del Sol which, is why the area has also become known as the Costa del Golf. Valderrama near Sotogrande played host to the Ryder Cup recently and is considered as one of the best courses in Europe. A popular choice for many people when looking at property for sale on the Costa del Sol is a golf property. Many of the courses have properties surrounding the course with views across the lush greenery and to the Mediterranean.

Eating out on the Costa del Sol is an experience in itself. You can choose from almost any type of cusine from Japonese and Indian to Mongolian and traditional Spanish. There are many beachside restaurants and cafés with some actually on the beach. These are traditionally known as chiringuitos and are usually a wooden structure serving fresh fish dishes and a selection of salads and tapas to passers by and beach dwellers.

Some of the more popular destinations on the Costa del Sol include Sotogrande, Estepona, Marbella, Puerto Banus, Mijas and Fuengirola. All are surrounded with a choice of golf courses and are much sought after by property buyers. The market has been vibrant over the last few years and the average age of the purchaser has decreased as many home owners in the UK are utilising their equity to purchase a holiday home. There is also an increasing trend for younger, professonial people to actually give up their hectic fast paced lives in the UK and re-locate to the more tranquil and peaceful life of the Costa del Sol.
