The residents of the municipality of Estepona are awaiting the completion of the new state of the art hospital, which is due to be completed within the next couple of months, at a cost of some 15 million euros.

The main structure is all completed and the work continues to complete the interior sections and wards, with the current focus on the important utilities like plumbing, the electrics, air conditioning and ensuring that all safety features are in place like fire alarms.

Work has also started on the main face of the hospital after which the hospital should be ready for its grand opening early in 2019.

The new Estepona hospital occupies a huge plot of some 60,000 m2 with the buildings and out buildings totaling 14,300 m2 in size. It will be located in the Santa Maria area of Estepona and a lot of thought has gone into it surroundings so that it is not just a concrete block. There will be over 7,000 m2 of new gardens, complete with colourful plants so that visitors can feel more relaxed, surrounded by greenery and nature.

The car parks will also be surrounded by trees so that parking will have natural shaded areas, especially useful during the hotter summer months.

The facilities at the new Estepona hospital will be state of the art and will attend to around 85,000 consultations, over 90,000 emergencies and at least 4,000 surgical procedures each year.
